I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.

Wade Barrett, according to reports, is not renewing his contract with WWE.

The League of Nations member and former leader of the Nexus has been plagued with injuries and visa issues the past few years, especially at times where he seemed to be getting a push from the WWE.

But Ryan Satin at Pro Wrestling Sheet is confirming that Barrett will not be extending his contract, which is up in June or July 2016.

Satin adds:

Sources close to the situation tell us Barrett recently informed WWE officials of his decision — and we’re told it was due to the wrestler no longer enjoying what he was doing in the company.

Barrett is a five-time Intercontinental Champion, King of the Ring in 2015, and was ranked No. 19 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Top 500 in 2011. He made a strong debut in one of the better stable battles of wrestling as he led the Nexus to an unforgettable beatdown to John Cena to end Monday Night Raw in 2010.
